Isaac Clifton Moses (1781-1834), a merchant in Charleston, died in a buggy accident while visiting Branford. He was an original member of the Reformed Society of Israelites, the first Reform congregation in America. His resting place here is believed to be the first grave of a practicing Jew in Connecticut.
