1. Historic Marker Marker
On this site and the surrounding area was the famous Hamilton "Blue Grass Farm." Jack Hamilton and James M. Hamilton, brothers, from the early 1900s raised registered American Saddlebred horses here in Audrain County. Their champion horses were shown throughout the nationwide Saddlebred circuit always culminating with the national show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. James' son, Dors H. Hamilton, along with his wife, Elizabeth Flouchinger Hamilton, and their daughter, Doris Elizabeth Hamilton Kelley, continued the tradition well into the 1950s. Doris Elizabeth also raised and sold ponies on this site until the 1980s. Doris Elizabeth Hamilton Kelley dedicates this monument in memory of her father and grandfather.
