Women have proven that the heart of a warrior is not limited to one gender. When freedom is threatened, women warriors are equal to any task...and when their country calls, they respond - not in gender-hyphenated roles - but as soldiers., Eight women died while serving in Vietnam. Their names can be found inscribed on the Vietnam Memorial wall., The Persian Gulf War involved more women in the military than any other war in U.S. history. Over 40,000 women served in key combat support positions throughout the Persian Gulf region. Eighteen to twenty percent of the U.S. military forces that served in Afghanistan were women., Some of the military specialties that women currently fill include: Artillery, Infantry, Intelligence, Military Police, Cavalry Scout, Aircraft Technician, Vehicle Mechanic, Medical, Nursing, Aviation Supprt Specialist, Pilot, and Navigator., There are 1,824,198 women veterans in the United States. Had all these women not come forward, willingly volunteering to serve in the military, our military ranks would have to rely on the draft.
