Inscription.
Construida en 1523, esta casona es una de las primeras estructuras del viejo San Juan, de gobierno durante el siglo XVI. Fue además la primera alcaldia y en sus sotanos estuvo la primera cárcel de la capital. Desde el 1960, fué la residencia del lido Don José Alegria Gallardo (1916 - 1998) uno de los más grandes contribuyentes a la restauración y preservación del viejo San Juan.

(English Translation):
Built in 1523, this large house is one of the earliest structures in Old San Juan and served as the seat of government during the 16th century. It was also the city's first City Hall. The capital's first jail was located in its cellars. From 1960 onward, it served as the residence of Don José Alegría Gallardo (1916 – 1998) — one of the greatest contributors to the restoration and preservation of Old San Juan.
