Immortal Chaplain-Hero, Rev. Francois Isidore Turgis, served in the front lines with 30th Regiment of Louisiana, Army of Tennessee, C.F.A., returned at end of war broken and ill. Placed in charge of St. Anthony Mortuary Chapel. Died March 3, 1868. Monument erected by former comrades in the Army.
