Lou Berliner
Lou Berliner (1910-1984) was a respected Columbus Dispatch Sports Writer from 1931 to 1975. He was widely known throughout the state for his work covering high school and amateur athletics. He was an avid participant in Columbus softball for 23 years.
More importantly, he covered and wrote about Columbus softball leagues, teams and players. It is said that Lou got the names of more people into the paper than any other reporter in the history of Columbus.
To honor the legacy of Lou Berliner, his standing in the community and his commitment to Columbus sports, the City of Columbus dedicated Southview Park as Lou Berliner Park in 1984.
