Das ehemalige Haus zum Hahnensteuß, später Güldene Kandel
Das Eckgebäude Grüner Markt 1 war vor dem 2. Weltkrieg mit einem, ab dem ersten Obergeschoss vorkragenden Erkerturm versehen. Die damalige Gestaltung des ursprünglich barocken Gebäudes mit historisierenden Stilelementen wird dem Architekten Chrysostomus Martin zugeordnet. 1945 wurde das Haus völlig zerstört. Im Zuge des Wiederaufbaus ab 1966 wurde auf historisierende Gestaltungsdetails, sowie auf den Turm verzichtet. Das heutige Gebäude spricht die typische Architektursprache der Nachkriegsjahre. Die Farbfassung nach Entwürfen des Bamberger Malers Anton Greiner ist wohl ein Zitat typischer Gliederungselemente der Barockzeit.

Die Fotografie von 1896 zeigt die Bauarbeiten zur Verlegung der Straßenbahngleise am Grünen Markt.

English:
The corner building at Grüner Markt 1 once had a projecting bay tower from the first floor upwards. The building was completely destroyed in 1945. In the course of the new construction from 1966 onwards, historicising design details and the tower were omitted.
