1. Mound City Landing Marker

Inscription. When the Mississippi River changed its course in the 1860's and moved East of mound City, the boat landing was moved to this spot. Hopefield Lake was then the main channel of the river where boats uploaded.

Erected 1976 by West Memphis - Crittenden County Bicentennial in Association with Esperanza Trails, Inc.

More about this marker. Marker was originally installed near the boat landing in Mound City. It is now in the old Crittenden County jail in Marion and no one is sure when/how it got there.
