1. Baton Rouge Pool Swim-In Marker
Segregation extended to pools and parks. In 1963, activists like Pearl George and Rev. Betty Claiborne led the Baton Rouge pool "swim-in," challenging exclusion at City Park. Their arrests, and other legal challenges like Largarde v. Recreation, led to a 1964 Federal ruling striking down segregated recreation. City Park closed ahead of integration.
