Also see . . . London's strangest bollard (My London, 17 Mar 2022). Full title: London's strangest bollard of a policeman is really odd - but no-one in Belgravia thinks it's weird at all. Excerpt:
London's strangest bollard is shaped like a policeman and exists down a tiny residential rode in the heart of one of London's wealthiest areas. Gerald Road in SW1 is a five minute walk from Sloane Square underground station and is utterly unknown to the majority of Londoners.(Submitted on April 7, 2026.)
The bollard visible in the centre right of this picture stands on a cobbled pavement in front of one of the houses on Gerald Street. A blue plaque informs passers-by that Belgravia Police station used to have its home in the building directly behind it, now converted into a luxurious residence.
The building was home to the police station from 1846 until 1993, whenit moved into a brand-new home on Buckingham Palace Road. The old overhead lamp outside the former police station remains as a feature on the building.
But besides the commemorative plaque, someone seems to have decided the building requires further recognition. So unlike the normal bollards in the rest of the area, Belgravia is home to the weirdest bollard in London - a police officer.
