Inscription. Hot Springs National Park has long been a destination for visitors in search of the restorative powers of nature. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, men and women strolled and walked on the trails, exploring the mountains surrounding Hot Springs. Even though they were trekking through nature, their clothing still reflected the ideas of that time. Women wore long skirts and bonnets, while men put on neckties and straw hats.

The fashion for outdoor activities has drastically evolved over the years. Today's hikers wear rugged shoes and clothing specifically designed for durability and comfort. Clothing styles might have changed, but hikers today are still in search of the same things as their predecessors: health, peace, and rejuvenation achieved by time spent in nature.
