Inscription.
This Corliss engine powered Alexander & Baldwin's Puunene Mill from 1903-1981. It weighs 50 tons, holds a 24 ft. flywheel, and is capable of 1500 horsepower. The Sugar Museum acquired the engine in 2014. It was erected on the museum grounds in 2022 by Bill Kohl, Michael Downing, Mike Ade, Jr., and a crew of skilled and talented professionals. Project funded with generosity by the Laurence H. Dorcy Hawaiian Foundation.
