Ruth Ling was born on 10th September 1952. She was first elected to Lambeth council in 1994 and was longest serving Clapham councillor in modern times. Cllr Ling spent many years as a senior member of planning committee overseeing decisions on developments such as new leisure centres in Norwood, Streatham and Clapham.(Submitted on April 15, 2026.)
Ruth was a fluent Portuguese speaker after living for a time in Brazil. She was previously a freelance journalist working for trade magazines covering, amongst other things, the satellite communications industry.
