1. Rough Treatment Marker

Inscription.
Cedar spar buoys were subject to damage from rot, rough seas and collisions and required near-constant maintenance. Lighthouse tenders picked up damaged buoys throughout the bay and delivered them to Point Lookout. Workers used a hook to load buoys from the ship onto the wharf's rail cars, which were pushed to the repair shed. Finished buoys were taken away by tenders and returned to service.
