The exhibit you are entering includes archaeological remains, reconstructed buildings, simulated buildings, and modern signs. The kitchen and a small cellared building are reconstructions that cover original 17th-century brickwork. The Council Chamber is a simulation that follows the size, shape, and room divisions of the original building using modern materials. Archaeological findings show where rooms were located and a surviving document gives their names. When you leave the building, be sure to relax in the arbor, a Dutch amenity Garrett Van Sweringen added for his guests at his private inn. Finally, visit the Coffee House site, a rare innovation on the early American frontier.
