1. Porter Anchor Marker
This 10,000 pound invention of William Porter was designed to permit large sailing ships to swing in tidal currents without fouling their anchor chains.
The secret was in the pivoting flukes that allowed one arm to fold back against the shank of the anchor, while the other embedded itself in the sea floor.
This rare specimen was found in 1976 off Black Rock at Ka'anapali and was salvaged by George Link and John Kostrick.
