Power & Propulsion: Dual S4G Pressurized Water Nuclear Reactors, 45,000 Horsepower (34,000 Kilowatts) Triton was the first and only U.S. submarine with two reactors (direct descendants of Hanford's reactors).
Sail: 75-Feet-Long, 20-Feet-Tall (22.9-Meters-Long, 6.1-Meters-Tall) The structure you see is Triton's sail - the largest ever on a U.S. submarine. The sonar antennas, search radar, snorkel and periscopes would extend through the top of the superstructure. When surfaced, crew members would stand watch on the bridge at the top of the sail.
Conning Tower: This small watertight compartment inside the sail above the control room would protect critical equipment and command crew during a battle. Triton was the last U.S. submarine with a conning tower.
