In 1902, the Trenton and New Brunswick Railroad Company laid tracks to connect Trenton to New Brunswick. This trolley line became part of a much more extensive transportation network ultimately connecting Philadelphia to New York. People across the state used the trolley line - also called the "Fast Line" - for work, travel, leisure, and more. At the time, West Windsor was still an agricultural community, and the line passed through endless vistas of farmland., A series of owners succeeded the Trenton and New Brunswick Railroad Company, culminating with the Public Service Corporation (Later PSEG) in 1913, which constructed the power transmission towers. After 35 years of operation, due to automobile competition, the trolley line fully shut down in 1937. Most of the tracks were torn up and forgotten.
