1. Veterans Memorial Grove Marker
Developed through a collaboration of veterans, philanthropists, blacksmiths, landscape architects, and government officials, this grove is a tribute to honor and reflect upon the service and sacrifice of local veterans.
Regarding the inspiration behind the design, landscape architect and U.S. Air Force veteran James Bassett stated, "As veterans, we go to war for something very precious - it's to preserve the Union and to bring people together, not separating them into groups. These sentiments are expressed in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address. These documents are drawn from inspiration, and the sculpture represents this inspiration, expressing a feeling of unity and beauty."
