1. Faurot Park Marker

Inscription. Spanning approximately 89 acres, Faurot Park stands as Lima's most-visited park and a centerpiece for residents and visitors alike. Initially known as City Park, it opened in 1904, marking one of Lima's early investments in public recreation space. As the park expanded in 1935 and was renamed Faurot Park in honor of Benjamin Faurot-the oil discoverer whose many contributions helped fuel Lima's growth-it became home to a unique zoo featuring deer, coyotes, alligators, bears, and more.

Today, Faurot Park has seven ball diamonds, multiple shelter houses, several lakes, a concert pavilion, playgrounds, sand volleyball courts, a skate park, paved and unpaved walking trails, a splash pad, and fishing areas.
