1. Helen Carter Marker
Inscription. This site was once the home of Ms. Helen Carter. She was an outstanding organist and composer, and founder of both the Carter School of Music and Carter's Music Lover's Guild. She taught many African American children in the community, often free of charge. She served as organist at Shiloh Baptist Church and St. Paul A.M.E. Church, where she was also a member and supervisor of music for many years.
