1. Gatehouse Chapel Marker
Built in 1908, the Gatehouse included a chapel (north side) and office and bathroom (south side). Its chapel offered Pensacola the first non-religious facility for hosting funerals and is still in use today.
Originally, a stained glass window of St. John was featured on the street side of the chapel, but this window was destroyed by a car that smashed into it in the 1970s. Now a beautiful mural replaces the window, showing a dove flying over the magnolia trees of the cemetery. This resurrection scene was painted by artist Sophie M. Houser.

3. St. John's Cemetery Gatehouse & Chapel
Looking west from North G Street at West Belmont Street. The gatehouse is on the south/left side, and the chapel is on the north/right side. The marker is on the opposite/west side of the building, on the right as you pass through the archway.
