1. Nature Preserve & Wetlands Marker
This 86-acre nature preserve is part of the New Albany Learning Community Campus, putting a rich diversity of wetlands, streams, meadows and forests within walking distance of students.
The preserve was made possible through collaborative land-use planning between school, Village of New Albany and New Albany Company officials. It reflects community values, such as learning environmental stewardship, local history, interpretive writing, mathematics of water flow, weather, surveying, art and photography.
It was the community leaders' shared vision that an appreciation and enjoyment of nature would create a desire to sustain the earth's natural systems for future generations. This is a shining example of how forward-thinking has resulted in unique opportunities for the community.
