Bedford in Bedford County, Virginia — The American South (Mid-Atlantic)
Marilyn Moore Boardman
Dec. 19, 1928 - Sept. 25, 2014
This beautiful garden and circle were constructed in loving memory of Marilyn Moore Boardman by her husband John King Boardman and four daughters, Scottie Boardman House, Holly Boardman Burton, Beth Boardman Grant and Cathy Boardman. Marilyn was a longtime board member of the Avenel Foundation, serving 16 years from 1986 to 2002, when she and John moved to Roanoke, Va. Marilyn helped guide Avenel through the initial renovations that restored this pre Civil War home to the original charm of its circa 1838 design. Her strong leadership and steady financial support were essential to the foundation's success. Appropriately, Marilyn's years of support and service are now commemorated and celebrated by all who are fortunate enough to share her path.
