1. 109 West Elder Marker
Inscription. 109 W. Elder first appeared in city directories in the 1860s and housed a variety of businesses over its early years. From the 1870s until the early 1900s, Moses Goldsmith and his family, all German Jewish immigrants, ran a store at 109 Elder, selling notions, toys, household goods and men's furnishings. The space later became a clothing company, a furniture store, a butchery, and a barbeque before being fully renovated in 2020 and becoming The Columns, a modern event space that opened in the fall of 2021.
