The original Golden Delicious apple tree, first called "Mullins' Yellow Seedling," was discovered at this exact location on Porters Creek. This tree was purchased by Stark Brothers Nurseries from A. H. Mullins and Emarancy Mullins, his wife, on the 10th day of September, 1915. The Golden Delicious is one of the most important apple varieties in the world.
