Etowah in McMinn County, Tennessee — The American South (East South Central)
The City of Etowah Fire Department
History & Honor
When the City of Etowah was established in 1906, there was no official "Etowah Fire Department." That is until 1913, when the first paid Fire Department was established under the leadership of Mr. J.A. Leath. By the early 1920s the first Etowah Fire Station was built on the ground where you stand today.
During this same period of time the purchase of the first new fire truck was made. Later, in 1940, the City of Etowah would purchase and receive by rail the 1939 American LaFrance/Chevrolet Pumper truck that is on display.
The City of Etowah Fire Department has been honored by the service and dedication of many fine men and women. Today, this park stands to honor all of those who have served us in the past, who serve us today and who will serve us tomorrow.
We dedicate this park to you and to the City of Etowah. You have brought great pride and honor to Etowah.
Erected 2018.
