Floyd in Floyd County, Virginia — The American South (Mid-Atlantic)
Park to Library Trail
Stroll, sit, jump, laugh and sing with the birds. Enjoy yourself on this peaceful woodsy trail, forged by volunteer workers from our Floyd community in partnership with the Town of Floyd. A quiet walk or a bouncy jog will take you from the Warren G. Lineberry Community Park to the library.
The Partnership for Floyd organized the labor and donations that made this Trail a reality. Landowners who generously gave us this right-of-way were: Blake Mitnick, David Burris and Meredith McGrath. LJ Quessenberry did the survey. Michael Maslaney coordinated trail work, right-of-ways and labor parties until we completed the trail in summer of 2015.
Partnership for Floyd members who designed the path, cleared the trail and built the bridge were: Michael Maslaney, Ellie and Ralph Roe, Barbara Pleasant, John Hopkins, Jane and Ken Cundiff, Jack Wall, Kamala Bauers, Marjorie Wells, Dede McGrath, Anne Pendrak, Karin Grosshans, Virginia Klara and Paul LeMay. Also helping were the Young Life Group directed by Morgan Grim. Dennis Anderson donated hours on his bulldozer. John Sutherland used his trail-making equipment in memory of his wife Linda Sutherland. Joe Gallimore at Wills Ridge Supply donated materials. The Girl Scout Junior Troop 163 led by Jolene Hall and Dr. Daune Angell feeds the birds and keeps the trail clean.
All work was in partnership and partially funded by: Floyd Town Council members: Will Griffin, Michael Patton, Bruce Turner, Karen Bingham, Paul LeMay; Floyd County Board of Supervisors: Case Clinger, Virgel Allen, Lauren Yoder, Fred Gerald, Joe Turman and Floyd-Montgomery Library Board of Directors.
