1. Horse Heaven Cemetery Marker
Inscription. The Horse Heaven Cemetery was established in 1893 by pioneers who settled the area. William Dennis donated the land for the cemetery, and he was the first to be buried here. The property was later deeded to Benton County, who owns the site today. The Pearson Family, which has members buried here, has helped to maintain the cemetery for many years.

A complete roster of burials is not available, and it is believe that significantly more people are interred here than are listed in the records, including a small area for local Native Americans. Unfortunately, periodic vandalism combined with the ravages of time have led to damage, deterioration, or removal of many of the headstones. As you appreciate the quiet beauty and the history of this place, please respect the grounds and those who were laid to rest here.

During the summer of 2010, a restoration of the cemetery was completed by a group of local volunteers. The old, dilapidated fence was replaced, and the gravel apron around the perimeter was installed that makes access, parking, weed control, and fire suppression easier.
