Home of the Sacred Ibis; From Iraq through Egypt south of Capetown South Africa. Subspecies also found on Aldabra Island and Madagascar. Closely related species are found throughout southern Asia and Australia.

Diet:
Almost any form of meat from locusts, scorpions and snakes to baby birds, mice and carrion.

Social Structure:
The Sacred Ibis mates in pairs and breeds in large colonies.

Fun Facts:
Worshipped and mummified as Thoth, the god of learning by ancient Egyptians.

The Sacred Ibis has been introduced into south Florida, Taiwan, Italy, France and Spain.
