1. This Stone Marker

Inscription. This stone was a part of the original Lakeshore Railroad Bridge over the Grand River. John Stephen Casement made his home here as a result of his work on the construction of the railroad in the 1850's. At that time he met And married Frances Jennings. He attained the rank of general during the American Civil War following which he was general contractor for the construction of the Union Pacific Railroad from Omaha to Promontory Point.
