Gebouwd in 1897 door scheepswerf Weduwe Boot (Alphen a/d Rijn).

Net als in Friesland en Groningen werden ook in Zuid-Holland tjalken gebouwd. De grote tjalken werden ingezet op alle Nederlandse waterwegen, terwijl de kleinere vooral bestemd waren voor de regionale vaart.

Deze tjalk werd te water gelaten onder de naam 'Anna'. Ze was lange tijd een zeilend transportschip: tot 1930 vervoerde ze mest van Friesland naar het Westland en bouwmaterialen van het Westland naar Friesland. Tussen 1930 en 1974 werd het schip gebruikt als woning, daarna werd de Anna verbouwd tot zeilend charterschip en kreeg het de nieuwe naam 'Anna Roosje'.

Het zou een ongeschreven regel zijn dat een eigenaar de naam van een schip nooit moet veranderen omdat dat rampspoed en ellende brengt. Door de oude naamborden aan boord te houden blijft het schip misère bespaard. Uit diverse archieven blijkt echter dat een naamsverandering toch heel vaak plaatsvond. ledere schipper moet zijn schip registreren en een nieuwe eigenaar geeft dan toch vaak een nieuwe naam op, die voor hem een betekenis heeft.

'Anna Roosje' fungeerde ze vanaf 1977 als zeilend charterschip. In 1986 geeft de nieuwe schippereigenaar, nu wonend in Hoorn, maar afkomstig uit Nieuwkoop, haar de naam 'Anna van Nieuwkoop'. Tot oktober 2010 heeft het schip over het IJsselmeer, Markermeer, Waddenzee en Friese Meren gezeild met passagiers, die het schip huurden als reis-accommodatie.

Sinds 2010 is de Anna van Nieuwkoop een woonschip én is er hard gewerkt om haar weer zo veel mogelijk terug te brengen in haar oorspronkelijke staat. Ze is nu als erkend varend monument te bewonderen.

Just as in Friesland and Groningen, tjalks were also built in South Holland. The large tjalks were deployed on all Dutch waterways, while the smaller ones were primarily intended for regional navigation.

This tjalk was launched under the name 'Anna'. For a long time, it served as a sailing cargo vessel: until 1930, it transported manure from Friesland to the Westland region and building materials from the Westland to Friesland. Between 1930 and 1974, the ship was used as a houseboat; subsequently, the Anna was converted into a sailing charter vessel and given the new name 'Anna Roosje'.

2. Anna van Nieuwkoop and marker

a ship's name, as doing so invites misfortune and misery. By keeping the old nameplates on board, the ship is supposedly spared from such woes. However, various archives reveal that name changes actually occurred quite frequently. Every skipper is required to register their vessel, and a new owner will often submit a new name—one that holds personal significance for them.

Under the name 'Anna Roosje', the vessel operated as a sailing charter ship starting in 1977. In 1986, the new skipper-owner — a native of Nieuwkoop who had since settled in Hoorn — renamed her 'Anna van Nieuwkoop'. Until October 2010, the ship sailed across the IJsselmeer, Markermeer, Wadden Sea, and Frisian Lakes, carrying passengers who had chartered the vessel as their travel accommodation.

Since 2010, the Anna van Nieuwkoop has served as a residential ship, and extensive work has been undertaken to restore her as closely as possible to her original state. She can now be admired as a recognized sailing monument.
