Inscription.
Richland Early American Center for History (REACH) has added the Petersburg Cabin and Hawk's Nest Forge and Cooperage to join Mansfield's War of 1812 Blockhouse. These buildings highlight early 1800's life in Richland County and serve as living history exhibits for current and future generations.

The Petersburg Cabin was acquired in 2015. Reconstruction on this site began in 2017 and was completed in 2020.

The Hawk's Nest Forge and Cooperage constuction began in 2020 and was completed in 2021.

To your right, next to the garden, is a shed built by Eagle Scout Nathan Cox of Mansfield BSA Troop 121. The roof shingles were split from red oak logs just as the settlers would have - with sledges, wedges, and froes.

The path from here to the Cabin, Blockhouse, and Forge and Cooperage was a project by Eagle Scout Isaac Stampfli, also of Mansfield BSA Troop 121. These paths join the path circling the Blockhouse constructed by his older brother, Noah Stampfli (Troop 121 Eagle Scout #142), eleven years earlier.

The Locust split rail fence in front of the Blockhouse was an Eagle Project done by Joseph Besecker (Troop 121 Eagle Scout #140).
