Inscription.
Professor of Music History and Literature 1969 - 1984
Director of Riemenschneider Bach Institute 1969 - 1998

Elinore Barber came to Baldwin Wallace in 1969 from Hastings College in Nebraska, following graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music and the University of Michigan as well as private study with Bach scholar and eminent physician Albert Schweitzer in Europe. An accomplished keyboardist, teacher and scholar, Dr. Barber was called to BW to become the founding director of the Riemenschneider Bach Institute, building upon the Bach Library begun by Dr. Albert Riemenschneider. As editor of the journal "Bach," she spread BW's reputation for serious Bach scholarship by expanding the journal's international membership base and welcoming scholars to campus. Her dedicated stewardship of the institute's rare Bach holdings and diligent acquisition of other important collections from 1969 to 1998 established the foundation for a dynamic Riemenschneider Bach Institute of the 21st century.
