Professor of Biology 1928 - 1973

In a career spanning 41 years, 31 as department head, Thomas Surrarrer's recommendation paved the way for hundreds of students into medical or Ph.D. programs. He received the Strosacker Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1964. His students dedicated more than 30 books to him and in 1968 they provided gifts to name a campus auditorium in his honor. An Alumni Merit Award in 1973. He continued to teach after retirement and to share his passion for biology until his death in 2002.
