Inscription.
Ranger Station Mound is a prehistoric Native American Adena burial mound located in Zaleski State Forest. It is less than 2,000 feet west of Raccoon Creek, making it an ideal location for a prehistoric group whose livelihood depended on hunting and foraging.

Some archaeologists say the Adena people had a social structure headed by a chief or a shaman. Upon their deaths, these individuals may have been given given elaborate burials. Since the Ranger Station Mound covered more area than the other mounds in the area, it may mark the spot of an important person's burial. Originally, it was the tallest of six earthworks known as the Zaleski Mound Group. Only three remain today.
