Louise Kiefer served Baldwin Wallace for almost 60 consecutive years as a professor of both French and German, and as the first chairwoman of the department of foreign languages. She also took on the role of college historian, planning and executing BW's Sesquicentennial Celebration. She was instrumental in founding BW's Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR) and was an active volunteer with the BW Women's Club and the Riemenschneider Bach Institute. Her service to students was recognized with the prestigious Bechberger Award for Human Development and she also was honored with the Alumni Merit Award and the Outstanding Educator Award.
