1. Pehrson Barn Marker
Inscription. This log structure was built by Eric John Pehrson in approximately 1875. The logs were cut in Talywag and Red Pine Canyons seven miles southwest of Vernon, hauled to Vernon via team and wagon where they were hand hewn with an ax and assembled. The original structure had a sod roof. The building was utilized as a granary and storage shed and used through March 1950. The Ross Gowans family purchased the Pehrson property in 1953. This building was donated by the Ross Gowans Family to the Benson Grist Mil Historic Site in 1997.
