This is the former location of the Nederlands-Israëlitisch Ziekenhuis (Dutch-Jewish Hospital).
Inaugurated in 1884, it was expanded in 1915 with the addition of the neighbouring Rosenthal-May nurses' home. The hospital was one of many Jewish health care institutions in this district.
On 13 August 1943, the patients and personnel were deported to Nazi concentration camps, where most of them died. Zichronam livracha: may their memory be a blessing.
