Opdrachtgever Nederlands Israëlitisch Ziekenhuis
Bouwjaar 1915
Rosenthal-May Nurses' Residence
Architect Harry Elte (1880-1944)
Commissioned by the Dutch Jewish Hospital
Year of construction 1915
This building once housed the nurses from the neighbouring Dutch Jewish Hospital, one of Amsterdam's three large Jewish hospitals. The construction of the Nurses' Residence in 1915 was made possible thanks to a contribution from Sophie Rosenthal-May, widow of banker George Rosenthal. The hospital was demolished after the war and the Nurses' Residence was converted to apartments for the elderly.
