Inscription.
This classical two-story Queen Anne townhouse features pressed brick, a false mansard roof, stone lintels and octagonal bays on both levels. The delicate Eastlake-style porch with turned posts with panels of turned spindles, saw-tooth ornament and unusual openwork is well-preserved. Edward C. Goddin, a clerk, was the first resident. Later, Charles H. Hughes, a policeman, Charles Davies and W. Hunter Catlett, both paperhangers, and James H. Cline, President of Cline Safe & Lock, lived here. This house is listed as a contributing structure to the St. John's Church Historic District on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
