Inscription.
Weston Burley House 1, 357 Main Street, Weston, Missouri was listed on the NATIONAL REGISTER of Historic Places with statewide significance, July 19, 2010.

From 1937 to 1962 it was a corporation owned by a small group of local farmers. It was called Missouri District Warehouse built in 1937 on the site of the original Weston Loose Leaf Tobacco Company Warehouse erected in 1911 and destroyed by fire in 1936.

The ONLY TOBACCO MARKET WEST of the MISSISSIPPI originated in 1937 when buyers from America's large companies came to buy tobacco at Missouri District Warehouse (Weston Burley House I and II).

In 1962, Jesse Pepper and two men bought the building for a place for farmers to sell tobacco. Five generations of Jesse's family have been stockholders or owners of Weston Burley House I (nee Missouri District). It is presently owned by Kenneth and Sandra Pepper Kisker and Mary Pepper.

WESTON BURLEY HOUSE I stands as a reminder of a lost industry that for most of the 20th Century annually generated millions of dollars in revenue to the city of Weston and community, making Weston what it is today. The last tobacco auction was held here in 2002.

WESTON BURLEY HOUSE I is dedicated to JESSE ALLEN PEPPER (1918-2000) by his loving family.
