Philips van Almonde
Nederlands vlootvoogd die in 1676 samen met Tromp tegen de Zweden vocht. In datzelfde jaar werd hij naar de Middellandse Zeevloot gestuurd om de overleden Michiel de Ruyter veilig thuis te brengen. Op 29 mei 1692 commandeerde hij de vloot die de Fransen in de zeeslagen bij Barfleur en La Hogue versloeg.
A Dutch naval commander who fought against the Swedes alongside Tromp in 1676. That same year, he was sent to the Mediterranean fleet to bring the late Michiel de Ruyter safely home. On May 29, 1692, he commanded the fleet that defeated the French in the naval battles of Barfleur and La Hogue.
