Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery is the final resting place to more than 1500 members of the community, with the earliest dating from 1887. The cemetery also contains about 100 unmarked graves. The cemetery is home to veterans from WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War as well as at least one Confederate soldier, John W. Hemby. Mr. Hemby served in Company E. 25th Georgia Infantry, and died on September 18, 1923. The first Mayor of Slocomb and founder of the Slocomb First Baptist Church, Reverend General Jackson Canant, is also laid to rest here.
