This Spanish colonial revival house was originally home to two important Riverside citizens, Emerson and Mary Holt. Mr. Holt was vice president of the Riverside Title Company, chaplain of the Evergreen Masonic Lodge, and co-founder of the Riverside chapter of the Sierra Club. Mrs. Holt was a writer, artist, social activist, president of the Wednesday Club and the Riverside County Federation of Women's Clubs, and lyricist of the Riverside County Song established February 13, 1924. This home is an important contributor to the Wood Streets Historic District.

Regarding Emerson and Mary Holt House. This Spanish Colonial Revival style house was built in 1924 for Emerson and Mary Holt, who were involved in numerous civic organizations. Mary wrote the lyrics for the Riverside County Song. Emerson disappeared on a Sierra Club hike in 1943.
