(English translation:)
In the mid-19th century, Kikkertstraat 47 housed the Van der Kloot blacksmith shop, a business that enjoyed an excellent reputation well into the early 20th century. The firm's name remained on the faηade throughout the period the Thomassen family owned the business, lasting until World War II. In 1959, agricultural contractor C. de Waard purchased the property and incorporated it into his business. In 2008, the old blacksmith shop was transformed into a charming B&B, which received the Zoover Award for tourist accommodation in 2014.

The Eierland polder was created in 1835 following the diking of the Buitenveld, a salt marsh situated east of the Zanddijk.

This drift-sand dike was constructed around 1630—using woven brushwood mats—between the dunes of De Koog and the former small island of Eyerland.

This sand dike and the polder situated above the Ruigendijk determined the shape of Texel.
