Inscription.
Born December 2, 1944, Dick Jordan’s life has always been about auto racing. His earliest memories are of attending races with his parents. Then in 1968, a milestone event occurred; USAC hired him to do media relations. In over 50 years there, however, his influence extended far beyond that. He became the custodian of all things USAC, and a mentor to many young drivers, Tony Stweart among the. Seldom “off work”, Dick met his wife, Susie at USAC in 1973, and proposed to her at a race! As a USAC Vice President, Dick has earned the respect and friendship of racers at all levels, worldwide.

Honored by the National Midget and Sprint Car Halls of Fame, and a recipient of the revered Jim Chapman Award, Dick’s close friend and IMS Historian, Donald Davidson, however, honors his single-minded passion best: “I don’t believe I ever encountered anyone who worked harder; was more respected by participants and race organizers, or who was more dedicated to insisting that racing events be conducted with utmost integrity and the results recorded for posterity with such detail and accuracy than Dick Jordan”.
