Tamanend (1625-1701) was Chief of the Turtle Clan of the Lenni-Lenape Nation in the Delaware Valley who signed the Treaty of Shackamaxon with William Penn in 1682. He is an icon of peace and friendship.
This structure is one of the original Dyottville houses built circa 1820.
