More about this memorial. It is not known where this plaque was originally located, but it was likely not at this spot. The third Will County Courthouse, built around 1887, sat west of here, behind where the Civil War memorial is located. It was replaced by a new, brutalist-style courthouse that was immediately to the south. That building was replaced in 2020 by a modern building a block west of here and torn down in 2024.
