originally located, but it was likely not at this spot. The third Will County Courthouse, built around 1887, sat west of here, behind where the Civil War memorial is located. It was replaced by a new, brutalist-style courthouse that was immediately to the south. That building was replaced in 2020 by a modern building a block west of here and torn down in 2024.

The marker is near the Will County Civil War Memorial. The field in the background is the former site of the Will County Courthouse, which was replaced in 2020 and torn down in 2024.
