Mill Apartments
The land on which the Mill Apartments is located was originally an English land grant to William Penn. James A. Wilson, Esquire, acquired the land in 1751 and constructed the mill between 1761 and 1768. It was operated as "Wilson's Mill" until 1810, when William Miller Henderson acquired the property. It was operated as "Henderson's Feed Mill" until 1913. The property was unused from 1913 to 1926. In 1926 Ralph A. Steele purchased it and converted it into apartments during the period 1926-1929. The U. S. Army acquired the mill and land from the heirs of Ralph A. Steele on 10 May 1959. It is the oldest building on Carlisle Barracks and was officially designated as the "Mill Apartments" in 1960.
Erected by Carlisle Barracks.
